H&M is a Swedish fashion retailer that began in 1947 as Hennes, a women's clothing store opened by Erling Persson in Västerås, and became Hennes & Mauritz in 1968 when menswear and children's clothing were added. Headquartered in Stockholm, it sells clothing, accessories and homeware through its own stores and online. It is the namesake label of H&M Group, whose other labels include COS, ARKET and & Other Stories.
