ASICS
ASICS is a Japanese sportswear and sports-equipment company headquartered in Kobe. It traces its roots to the sports-shoe business Kihachiro Onitsuka started in Kobe in 1949, which merged with two other companies in 1977 to form ASICS Corporation. The name abbreviates the Latin phrase 'anima sana in corpore sano' (a sound mind in a sound body), and the company is best known for running shoes such as the GEL-KAYANO and GEL-NIMBUS.
