Under Armour is an American sportswear company headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland, founded in 1996 by former University of Maryland football player Kevin Plank. It began with a moisture-wicking synthetic T-shirt made as an alternative to sweat-soaked cotton, and it now makes performance apparel, footwear and accessories for training, running and team sports. The company is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange.
